Summer Solstice Girl...

Remember how I mentioned in an earlier post how this set of jewelry would end up changing my life? Well..I got asked by the Belle Roussel, creator of Chop Zuey Couture Jewellery, to do a print ad for her store and she wanted me to model her "Summer Solstice" collection.

After the photo shoot was completed, Belle thanked me for my time and offered me a position as a model for her collections. I gladly accepted!

[MOCK] me...

I have become a great fan of [MOCK] Cosmetics created by Mocksoup Graves. She is one of the most generous and creative makeup artists on the SL fashion scene. You need a special request? She can do it for you.

I needed to find just the right shade of eyeshadow for a runway show for The Fashion Fix television program at Pulse TV where they showcased Faster Pussycat. I was given a sumptuous fur winter outfit designed by Honey Bender and decided on [MOCK]'s Nautical Nonsense - Flash Frozen Water. It was a perfect match..and a wonderful show!
The Face of October Contest: August
"Mongolian Overload"

For the month of August contest, we were asked to style an "avant garde" ensemble using clothing from two different centuries.

Sumptuous fur trims the embroidered silk coat that I teamed with a matching hat along with Bax Coen black suede boots. I paired this traditional Mongolian coat with an 18th century shirt with cravat. An ensemble warm enough for any winter trip and yet glamorous enough for the court of any Asian Overlord.
Carrrrribbbbean...Fling

October Bettencourt, of October Studios Photography, put together an impromptu party one evening with a Caribbean theme. It was time to pull out the Jamaican clothes, fire up the grill, roll out the rum barrel and get ready to limbo! Savannah, October Studios house DJ and party girl, spun some great tunes for the event. I won't mention what other things appeared at the party... hehehehe.. but wow..the leaves were flying!

Do my eyes look a little glazed over in that pic?
And now for something completely different....

Sometimes you get asked to change your appearance as was the case when I got hired to do a runway show for the Dallas Modeling Agency who was secured to showcase the recent creations of Belle Roussel of Chop Zuey Couture jewelry. Imagine my surprise at just how different my look would be! The creativity of presentation for fashion and accessories never ceases to amaze me.

The jewelry pieces I received were stunning. "Summer Solstice" - an exquisite suite of jewelry featuring a large center stone composed of Sedona Rose Quartz surrounded by Brazilian Pink Topaz & Diamonds set in Gold.

Little did I know how fate set my fortune when I received this suite...

Moonlight...roses...and you..

There is nothing like the sultry tones of a great singer as their graceful notes fill the night air with song in a dimly lit jazz club.

I have become a frequent visitor to certain jazz clubs in SL. It's been really nice to be able to get dressed up again. I have discovered that I really enjoy the music, the company and the dancing.

Models and Rock Stars....

My cell phone started to buzz ..and suddenly this message flashed across the screen..

1pm PT today: @DuranDuran's Roger Taylor will be DJing at the grand opening of Duran Duran Universe in #SL!

Of course Vivy and I jumped at the opportunity to fight the lag and hit this event. We quickly TPed over to the club..and found ourselves right next to Roger Taylor in his DJ booth! The club was PACKED...I was surprised that I could actually move.

He played some awesome tunes and we met some rather interesting people along the way. *lol*

The day in the life of a model...

With all the many contests, runway shows, and styling not to mention the shopping, one has to stop and take a break every now and again. One of my favorite things is hitting the dance floor..and one of the hottest clubs in Second Life is Ambrosia. Here you'll find great conversation, hot DJs and great tunes to dance away your cares.

Catching up!

So much has been going on that it's time to get the blog caught up! So let's roll back the clock nearly a month!

My cohort-in-crime, Vivienne Coppola and I decided to drop in on one of our old haunts, the Global Online Hockey Association. The theme for the latest season's awards ceremony was "Alice in Wonderland"...and what better way to celebrate than to come as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Being the quick stylists that we are, we put together these awesome outfits with a modern twist on the old tale. It was great seeing many old friends again.

Last night I decided to get my "swerve" on and headed out for small town SL. I went on down to the Alafia Country Escape sim; a family run and family-oriented place with lots of good people and down-home living. I sauntered on in to a little joint called the "Smokin' Aces" to take in some live entertainment. I was met at the door with friendly greetings from Rocky & Shannon Hilburton and the hearty laugh of a handsome cowpoke named Smidge. I jumped on in the line dance while listening to the vocal styling of Samara Reigns who melted the heart of every cowboy in the place. She was followed by Harry Frychester who can really pack a punch in the vocals department..and wooed the boots off this cowgirl. Woo hoo..Harry..you can take this girl out for a ride in your pickup truck any time! Yes..the joint was jumping down at the Smokin' Aces...even the kids were out on the dance floor! Nothing like good old fashioned Southern fun... but be mindful of the gators!

Something a little different for today. I am a big fan of the graphic novel style of art. So I decided to try and put together an fashion art block using the graphic novel style. I've done a couple before from a play I once performed in here in Second Life which turned out rather well. They are some of my favorite art pieces I've done.

Today's piece reflects our main character pondering over a past life filled with mystery and intrigue.

I summed up my weekend events with a trip over to the Carriage Trade sims to try my hand at their sponsored hunt. So to get into the mood, I put together this formal equestrian ensemble. Walking along the cobble-stoned paths, it was amazing to see the variety of horses and riders. What is unique about these sims is that the horses are avatars and prim horses are not allowed. Looking for the truly unique gift for a loved one? You can rent a horse and carriage for special events. Check it out here on the Marketplace:

Next up on my schedule, a modeling job over at Pulse TV for the Fashion Fix program showcasing Chop Zuey jewelry and its designer, Belle Roussel . Taking my place on the pose stand, I was given a stunning set of jewelry to showcase. I am anxiously awaiting to see the final edit of the show due to be released soon!

A few days have gone by since my last post so I have some catching up to do! Last weekend was a flurry of activities. First off, I attended the Mr. Virtual World contest. I can honestly say that it was very well attended by a bevy of beautiful beauties from across the grid. Never have I seen such a gathering of females in one spot. And taking a look at this year's contestants it was easy to see why! Representing countries from across the globe, some of the grid's most handsome men hit a beautifully decorated stage to show off their swimwear finery. As an amateur photographer, I couldn't help but snap my shutter at a few of the gorgeous guys. In this pic, meet Mr. Costa Rica, Pheonix Reyer.

Before I jetted off to celebrate the 4th of July, I had my first modeling portraits done. I received them this weekend from the photographer. I've done my own portraits for myself for a long time. (see this blog). But I can't even begin to describe the feeling I received from seeing myself in those photos. Emmy took me from a has-been to a radiant beauty. Thank you so very much, Emmy, for your time and patience.

I did it! I survived my first walk down the runway...and without tripping.. lol (seeing shades of Carrie Bradshaw). Not only did I manage to saunter the catwalk but also do some fairly nice poses. I walked away with a 2nd runner up position for the Face of October Studios contest..and I'm pretty damn proud.

Taking the plunge... it's scary you know....putting yourself out there. But I'm going to try my hand at modeling in Second Life. I think my forte will be as a print model but will make my first foray down the runway this Saturday in "The Face of October Studios" contest.

I do have the passion for fashion of all eras. The classical elegance of the 1930's to the popart of the 1960's; the graceful swing of the skirt in Avalon's ballrooms to the grunge street style of Toxian City...yes...I love it all!

Well...here I am..just after I get done telling you that I am loving the summer short...i get all glammed out in an up-do! After receiving notice about new hair from Plume, I dashed out and purchased this style to try out with my new hairbase.

The style is versatile with the two headbands being able to be colored in a variety to fit your casual daytime look or that flirty cocktail hour. Yes..I'll be sipping Cosmos at a trendy bar waiting on a call from my boyfriend. See you there!

In all my years in Second Life, I have been wedded to the popular notion that long flowing tresses or sophisticated up-dos are the style du jour amongst fashionistas. In the past few weeks, I've suddenly discovered the pleasures of "boy hair".

"Harkening back to the short bobs of Audrey Hepburn, Leslie Caron and Twiggy, popular designers like Dura and [69] have created wonderfully short and sassy hairstyles for summer that cross gender lines and easily take their place amongst the fashion ranks.

This weekend I will be excited to attend the My Precious Summer Queen 2011 Finale. I will be attending to support one of my dearest friends who is one of the finalists, Vivienne Coppola.

Vivy and I go waaay back. One would think that with our mutual love of Sex in the City that we met over a couple of cosmopolitans dashing on about men (not that we don't do that mind you). But actually we met in a place where no one would suspect to find two fashionistas with a passion for shoes: an ice hockey rink. Vivy and I both played for various teams for numerous seasons for the illustrious GOHA league run by Jack Belvedere (I highly recommend you go and watch a game!). She has become one of my closest and dearest friends in Second Life. Two gal pals sharing the trials and tribulations of our virtual lives as if we lived next door to each other in real life. We hope to meet in real life some day...with a trip across the pond.

She's a true English rose this one; a beauty not only in looks but in mind and spirit. I'll be there rooting for her to go all the way! Even if she doesn't walk away as the Summer Queen...never fear...she's already a queen in my book. Love ya, Vivy! xxx

Greetings fellow fashionistas! Jane Austen, in her book, Northanger Abbey, wrote of her main character, Catherine Morland:

"At fifteen, appearances were mending; she began to curl her hair and long for balls; her complexion improved, her features were softened by plumpness and colour, her eyes gained more animation, and her figure more consequence. Her love of dirt gave away to inclination for finery, and she grew clean as she grew smart. To look almost pretty, is an acquisition of higher delight to a girl who has been looking plain the first fifteen years of her life, than a beauty from her cradle can ever imagine."

For me after being in Second Life for over four years, this passage I feel describes me to a "t"; growing and changing with the times to become the virtual person that I am today.

I've been a long time fan of fashion/fashion design and have several favorite designers in SL that I hope to showcase here for you to view. So bear with this writer as we begin our adventure into the "higher delight".
